elissa zarzour, Snake (September Theme: Travel)

This photograph, “Snake,” has a ribbon in the foreground, religiously alluding to the serpent in the story of Adam and Eve. The ribbon represents the temptation of greed which acts as a leading line towards the objects. The left object is a ceramic basket of flowers- rather than real flowers-, which symbolistically alludes to the forbidden fruit in the Bible,- depicted as good but leads to destruction, paralleling the materialistic obsession of humans.
