Di Lymbury, Shining a Light on a Spot of History (LIGHT/SHADOW - Entries close 30 September 2026)

When we travel to Newcastle we love to walk on this disused coal haul rail line that wends its way through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie suburbs. It has been a goal to take a photograph of the inside of the tunnel so last trip I took this shot near an entry to show the light streaming in, contrasting against shadows and darkness inside the tunnel with small pockets of light at intervals from the overhead lights. The shot was taken hand held with the Canon EOS R5m2 paired with the Canon Ef 100-400mm 4/4.5-5.6L IS USM @ 100mm, ISO 2500, 1/200sec @f/4.5 all set to try to compensate for the low light conditions .
