Marty Friedel, Shimmering Blue (February theme: Blue)

I’m not much of a boat guy, so jumping off a boat in to the ocean was an interesting experience - but if you’re going to do something that pushes your boundaries, best do it somewhere as beautiful as Lelepa Island in Vanuatu in the South Pacific. As part of a full day tour of the island by local guides, I had the chance to jump ship in to a coral garden. And as the first guy off the boat, the moment I dunked my head underwater, the dancing shimmering light was mesmerising. Surrounded by fish behind me, the reef disappeared off in to the blue distance, but that dancing light kept me immersed and captivated.
