Fiona Pennisi-Mitchell, Shell River (OCEAN - Entries close 30 November 2026)
‘Shell River’ explores the channel of mussel shells, driftwood and shoreline debris left by the receding tide in the narrow passage between weathered granite rocks. The winding line creates a visual flow through the frame, contrasting the rich blues of the shells with the warm tones of the surrounding stone. The photograph was taken handheld using an Apple iPhone 13 with the built-in 5.1mm lens (26mm equivalent) at f/1.6, 1/125 sec, ISO 50. Minor processing was carried out in Microsoft Photos, including subtle adjustments to warmth, contrast and sharpness. No elements were added or removed.
