Victoria Hynes, Serenity (Single Shot 2017)

On a stroll through Sydney’s Botanic Gardens in the spring, I met a Buddhist monk near the Opera House who was visiting from Sri Lanka. He was seeing the sights of Sydney, before heading up to stay in a monastery in the Blue Mountains. His kind and noble bearing stood out among the jostling tourists and joggers in the gardens, and I asked if I could take his photo. I have chosen to only feature his hands and saffron robes as for me; they enigmatically capture his peaceful demeanour.
