Beck Leonard, Sarabah fires (Landscape 2019)
On the 8th of September 2019, Canungra, Sarabah and O'Reilly got the news to be prepared and ready to evacuate. Some homes were lost, farms and land was destroyed, wildlife lost homes and people were being evacuated as smoke filled the sky and turned the sun red. 3 weeks after the disaster I decided to go and safely take some photos of the aftermath of the damage in Sarabah QLD, it was absolutely heart breaking to see all the damage but there's some life trying to grow through the ashes with some bright green grass. Along the way i seen over a dozen wallabies and kangaroos hopping around happily eating, birds I haven't seen in my life flying around, and more importantly seeing and hearing the town come and work together.
