Sourav Ghosh, Ripples (ENTRIES CLOSED - LIGHT/SHADOW)
Captured on a Nikon Z50 with a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens (f/4.5, 1/125s, ISO 100) and post-processed in NX Studio, this photograph utilizes a stark black-and-white conversion to emphasize the structural tension between stillness and motion. On the left, a rugged shoreline anchors a slender, silhouetted branch extending over a zone of low-key, mirror-smooth water, yielding a sharp, high-fidelity specular reflection. Conversely, the right side of the frame features a dense network of undulating ripples that act as a natural lens array, refracting ambient light into crisp, high-frequency highlights contrasted against deep shadow troughs. By stripping away color during editing, the final image isolates a compelling study of tonal architecture, balancing the sharp, linear geometry of the foliage against the organic, sinuous distortion of the water's surface.
