Brian Osborne, Pushed to Extreme Action (September theme: What Matters to Me )

As police divert traffic around a busy intersection in the heart of Perth, the last couple of protesters remain on the street, blocking the road with a coffin. This demonstration was to remember, and bring awareness to all the rapidly disappearing old growth forest in Western Australia's South West,These forests are critical carbon storage, habitat for endangered species, and purifiers or air, among many other reasons they need to be left intact. They are being logged, at an economic loss to the state, a significant environmental and social cost, primarily to be sold as firewood, or wood chipped and exported to make low value products like paper. The WA state government just renewed the Regional Forest Agreement to continue doing so for another 20 years. Photo Take at the Forest Wake demonstration, May 4th 2019.
