This image is from a walk around Gdansk. I remember a tour guide talking about what his childhood was like before the fall of the communist regime thanks to Lech Walesa. I especially remember him saying his father ran into the room and cuddled him, saying "We can talk! We can talk!" Prior to that the parents felt they could not talk freely with their son for fear of what might happen. Poland is still recovering. The bright shiny bike is not about 'things' it's what they represent.
