Cameron Wood, Pinnacles Star Trails (May theme: The night sky)

I have always being fascinated with the universe and milky ways and stars and when I bought my Nikon D750 I knew I had to try capture a long exposure of the stars in out universe. So I asked another photographer if he wanted to come up with me and do a bit of a tip up north, and he said yes sweet and we left that weekend and took a drive to escape the pressures of the city life, we only went up for the weekend but it was just perfect because the moon was so small it wasn't releasing lots of harsh light. I planned this image with the photopills app and calculated the length of the exposure, I checked I had plenty of battery and said "yeah that should be plenty" well I was wrong, Im laying in the back of the car with the boot open trying to rest the alarm on my phone is set for the duration of the image but i'm laying there and I head the shutter close so I jump up and run over to the camera and the battery died. luckily I had a spare battery I was in such a bad mood now i'm thinking this photo is a goner its not going to save the battery died but I decide to chuck the charged battery in the camera and it does nothing and then I click the play back button and my long exposure is staring me in the face it was darker than i wanted, but this is because the shutter closed about 20 minuets before it was supposed to. Thank you for reading. - Cameron
