Jennifer Methven, Pier Side Glow (OCEAN - Entries close 30 Nov 2026)

Shot from an elevated vantage point during golden hour, this image explores the relationship between human presence, coastal infrastructure and the ocean. The sweeping diagonal line of the pier draws the eye across the frame, dividing the composition into warm reflections and dramatic shadows cast across the sand. The camera I use is a Sony a7c at 155 focal length, 1/640, ISO 1250, f5.6. No Tripod. I processed this in Adobe Lightroom Desktop using local gradient/radial masks for highlight and shadow control, perspective alignment and colour grading for golden-hour warmth.
