Tony Newland, Passing Through (October theme: Lines)

A web of lines defines this quiet street scene - the rigid iron bars of the windows, the weathered lines of the stonework, and the intersecting patterns of the rain-darkened pavement. Against this geometry, a woman in red moves beneath her umbrella, a fleeting splash of colour and life. Her solitary figure breaks the repetition, drawing the eye through the frame and reminding us that within the lines of our surroundings, life is always moving.
