John Dalton, On a Country Street (People 2021)

The relationship between people and a street on a busy highway in a small country town is complex. The illusion of a quiet place to eat or shop is not sustained when heavy trucks remind people this is a timber and cattle region, and the town would not exist without moving both. And while the highway pulses like a vein beside them, the shops provide a measure of comfort for a busy truckie with nowhere to park, a young man with a phone, an elderly lady who needs a butcher and a kid who can just play in a doorway.
