Maryse Jansen, Natural Abstract: Crab Art Shadows (February Theme: Shadows)

Small Sand Balls in the late afternoon sun create long shadows on the beach. It makes an interesting pattern and natural abstract art. Sand Bubbler Crabs live in burrows in the sand in Australia. During low tide they come out of their hiding places and feed by filtering sand through their mouth parts, eating the plankton and detritus. They discard the sand in the form of little balls and as they move around they create beautiful patterns on the beach! They are called Bubbler Crabs because they wait out high tide in their burrows in an air bubble.
