Kate Snow, Mountain Reflections (February theme: Amazing places)
Our ship lands on a secluded, rocky beach at the edge of Svalbard. Snow dappled mountains surround a glacial tongue and an inlet of water creates a small lake among the rocks. I walk around the barren land, struck by the contrasting reflections of mountain and ice, cloud and rock, and feel compelled to take this photo. The mountains dominate the photo, yet the glacier is noted in its absence from the reflection, a reminder of the fragility of our planet.
