Tim Garland, Man in Hanoi (December theme: Portrait)
Walking around the Old Quarter in Hanoi, I came across this old man sitting alone on some steps, sat down beside him, offered him a cigarette and his permission to take his photo. What I wasn't able to capture was the warmth of his smile, as I put the camera to my eye to take the photo his face became straight again. We sat together for about 10 minutes, I left him with a full pack of smokes, and I still have the warmth of his smile etched in my heart
