Emma Fleetwood, Lightshow (October theme: Weather)

Image title: Lightshow Every summer Adelaide gets a couple of spectacular night time thunderstorms, so I keep an eye on the radar when they are forecast. This night I missed the first quick wave of lightning which hit me as I was driving towards the coast. After that disappointment, I was almost going to go home, but I could see more coming, both on my weather app, and in the far distance, so I waited around, along with a few other photographers. As it came closer, the lightning was flashing constantly in a big line along the horizon with the storm front heading straight towards us. For this image I stacked 6 consecutive 30 second frames in photoshop, which represents just 3 minutes of time. It's a lot of lightning for 3 minutes, and I was very lucky that the rain didn't arrive before the lightning. When the rain did arrive, it came heavy and hard, and sent all the photographers running for cover. By this stage it was midnight, another quick check of my weather app, showed nothing else was on the way, so it was time to pack up and head home after a very enjoyable, thrilling and memorable evening. Technical Details: Nikon d750, Nikon 16-35mm f4 lens, f18, ISO-320, 6 photos stacked at 30 seconds each.
