Benjamin Davis, Life is Like a Rollercoaster (February theme: Unusual angles)
There are few settings quite as relaxing as those warm sunsets enjoyed in the heart of Fremantle. Captured at the base of Little Creatures' infamous ferris wheel, I relish the way in which this image (shot on Kodak 400 UltraMax) illustrates the mood of the evening. Despite the ride being more or less empty, and on first observations a fairly derelict notion, what it lacks for in thrills, it compensates for in beauty. My favourite aspect of the photo is the strong contrast in colour between the ride and the encompassing background. To me, this is a photographic representation of what living in Western Australia is all about.
