Little Corella balances on a branch frozen stiff by hoar frost in the NSW town of Walcha. Located in a frost hollow, the near-immobile air sits overnight to chill; freezing the mist and moisture that arrives in the early morning. As the temperature dropped close to negative 10, foliage of all kinds became locked in crystalline bonds.
