Harper Schell, Last Train Leaving (ENTRIES CLOSED - SOFT LIGHT)
I waited at a station in the Blue Mountains at late dusk, until I got the perfect blur of a train. It was also misting and raining lightly, which was a perfect feel. I’m an amateur photographer and only started shooting a couple of months ago after being gifted my first camera. I’m fifteen and still learning, using only a Nikon D7000 with the standard 18–105mm kit lens and no tripod. Technically, the image was shot at 18mm, f/10, 1/60s, ISO 320, with +1 exposure compensation. I didn’t use a tripod. In post‑processing, I applied only a very light warm filter in Microsoft Photos to bring out the natural yellow tones from the station lights. The scene was already warm and atmospheric, so I kept the edit minimal to preserve the mood as it appeared in real life. This is the first photo I have entered into any competition. I hope it is up to scratch
