Toby Leon, KL Colour Waves (Travel 2017)

I recently visited Kuala Lumpur for the first time—a city that surprised and delighted me on several fronts. The city is steeped in Chinese, Indian, British, Arabic, and Portuguese influences, weaving together in a particular harmony specific to Malaysia. I'm obsessed with capturing moments in complementary colours, waiting patiently for people to enter the frame wearing hues that match their surroundings. But I like to think this set from KL goes beyond my obsession with colour matching, touching on the rich cultural tapestry that makes Malaysia so unique.
