Pat Martin, Home reno (ENTRIES CLOSED - June theme: Home)

I am fortunate to have a 'home among the gum trees' and to share it with native birds, like this Galah. She is taking fresh gum leaves into her nest in the tree hollow; laid on the floor of the nest, their oil will act as a deterrent for parasites and the leaves will also help to provide humidity to stop eggs drying out. They are also softer than the wood and provide a gentler environment for adults incubating eggs.
