Boxia Gao, Focus (ANIMAL & NATURE 2023)

This is a set of eastern spinebills having lunch. My lens focused on these eastern spinebills as they focused on their meals. Each eastern spinebill appears to be gazing intently at the flower, carefully probing it with its beak. I waited for the moment when the soft light, dark background and focused expression appeared simultaneously, and then I pressed the shutter to capture the face of them concentrating on eating honey. The calyx, buds and feathers are set against the dark background, the colours are rich and coordinated, and the contrast between light and dark is sharp. It achieved the shooting effect I expected.
