Nina Lipscombe, Displaced (September theme: What Matters to Me )
Displaced and homeless children around the world matter to me. My photograph is a critical examination of social, political and cultural issues as they relate to displaced and homeless children all around the world. In my work, I provide my own interpretation of the lives of displaced children. I have displayed my subjects, brother and sister, in a vulnerable and intimate manner and yet unattainable as their gaze does not connect with us. They have lost hope and know nothing more of innocence and we, somehow, cannot figure out how to help. What will become of them? Why are they so easy to dismiss?
