Laura Symes, Dewlight (SOFT LIGHT - Entries close 31 May 2026)
This image was created on a calm autumn morning while exploring plant life in search of dew using a Nikon Z6III with a Nikkor Z 180–600mm lens. Shot handheld at 520mm, f/6.3, 1/250s, ISO 450, the longer focal length allowed for strong background compression and a shallow depth of field, simplifying the scene into a minimal, abstract composition. I was drawn to the delicate dew droplets and the natural complementary colours, which helped create a soft, harmonious palette. In post-processing, I applied subtle global adjustments to exposure and contrast to maintain balance, while preserving the natural softness of the scene. The final image reflects a quiet, minimal moment, where light, colour and texture work together to create a calm and understated composition.
