Michael Black, David & Goliath (BIG AND SMALL - Entries close 31 March 2026)
While photographing this magnificent White-bellied Sea Eagles soaring above me, I captured this very brave Blue-faced Honeyeater that decided to attack its much larger foe, despite it soaring well above its nesting area. Truely a David & Golioth moment. Focusing on capturing the much larger eagle, I only caught a glance of another dark object through the viewfinder. It wasn't until the image was downloaded I realised what it was. This image was captured on a Canon EOS R6 Mark 2 camera with Canon RF 100-500 f4.5-7.1L IS USM lens and a Canon Rf 1.4 Extender. The focal length was 700mm, shutter speed 1/3200, f10, ISO 2000. The image was edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. The challenge with this shot was to keep tracking the bird as it flew directly overhead.
