Fiona Pennisi-Mitchell, Crossing into the Light (LIGHT/SHADOW - Entries close 30 September 2026)

‘Crossing into the Light’ captures a moth poised between light and shadow. By positioning the light source to one side, the delicate scales and fringed edges of the wing are illuminated while the opposite side remains in shadow, emphasising the transition from darkness into light. The photograph was taken handheld using a Canon EOS 600D with a Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro lens, 1/60 sec, ISO 400. Minor processing was carried out in Microsoft Photos, including subtle adjustments to shadows, sharpness and saturation. No elements were added or removed.
