Shubhodeep Roy, Coexistence (December Theme: Movement)
Birth and death are the two most co-existing phenomenon of life they are not two different states, but they are different aspects of the same state. In this shot, I have tried to portray the co-existence of life. The shadow of the pigeon in the frame portrays the afterlife or death and the real one portrays birth. The line between the two is the bar, the barrier between life and death. This is a street photograph, a decisive moment captured in Kolkata, India. This shot was captured on a bright sunny day on a wall in my city, a woman was feeding the pigeons, in front of a white wall, and the birds were landing, and their shadows were being cast on the wall. I had a wait about an hour to capture the frame I was looking for, and after a long wait this happened! a shadow of a pigeon and a real pigeon aligned parallelly, and that's how I capture the image.
