Genevieve Ackland, Clifton Springs on Film (TRAVEL 2020)
The town of Clifton Springs in regional Victoria hosts a bevvy of quintessentially Australian scenes, steeped in the sentiment of quiet streets, long memories, and soupy sunsets. It is a town where corner stores still thrive, neighbours share notes in letterboxes, the last gasp of the day illuminates the local Lawn Bowls club, and the pink haze of dusk brings a romantic sigh from a community wholeheartedly in love with where they live. These images as a four-part collection showcase typical scenes from the neighbourhood, and were captured on 35mm film using a 1964 rangefinder camera.
