Robin Yong, Chinese Street Opera, the Art of Lao Sai Tao Yuan (August theme: Reflections)

Chinese Street Opera - once a common sight in Singapore and Malaysia but now a vanishing art and trade. Performances are now rare -only at the few Taoist Temples during festivals. Colors of the make-up and costumes are stunning and photographs are made more interesting with the use of small table mirrors found on the desks of each artiste.
