Nilmini De Silva, Chalk Artist (November theme: Portrait)

This is a photograph of my partner Steven. He has sketched an image of a woman I met and photographed at a market in South Africa while on a volunteer project linking conservation and photography. The image was taken while on a portrait photography assignment and when I first learnt how to use the manual settings on my camera. My original image did quite well in competition and interestingly so has this photograph. I love that there are so many layers to this image that incorporates both our passions of art and photography.
