Paul Harrison, Brickworks, India (TRAVEL 2020)

This brickworks near Varanasi, India supports work for 40 people. The men make the bricks and the ladies collect the unburnt coal fragments to use in the next firing of the huge kilns. They burn Australian coal. The Indian government is trying to shut down these kind of operations to improve air quality but the locals prefer to build with bricks rather than concrete. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of future these kids would have - a better climate and their parents out of work?
