Marla Bishop, Beyond Invisibility (Creative 2021)

Fibromyalgia, like many chronic illnesses/disabilities, is not taken seriously due to its invisibility. Research shows us that 90% of disabilities are invisible and, while their severity is starting to be recognised by society, prejudices still remain. Through my photographic art and the illustrative works of Adelaide artist Sam Makin, I would like to validate the struggles of those who live with invisible illnesses; to break through the historical ignorance of the medical system and promote awareness.
