Victoria Hynes, Belle of the Bayou (Single Shot 2017)

On a recent holiday to New Orleans, I took a boat ride along one of the Louisiana bayous. Joining the small group on the old swamp boat was a young Indian woman accompanied by her husband. For the hour-long ride, while the rest of the dozen people aboard noisily chatted and spotted alligators, she sat gazing quietly out to the slow moving river beyond. I wondered during the trip what she was thinking and was grateful that her gentle serenity enhanced the tranquil beauty of the surroundings.
