Shantel Bolton, Before The Jam (LIGHT/SHADOW - Entries close 30 September 2026)

This photo was captured during a roller derby grand final. The sun had begun to lower in the sky, casting harsh light through the court windows. While blinding for skaters and referees, this light created amazing contrast between light and shadows across skaters faces. These two skaters lined up as the jam was about to begin, and I couldn't resist snapping a shot. For one, the contrast was amazing. But secondly, and what makes this photo so special, is this couple, while on opposing teams on track, are actually married in real life.
