Deborah Pearse, Beautiful Being An Inadequate Word (Wildlife and Animal 2019)

A stunning Byron Bay day out in a boat on the ocean with the sun shining and the water so clear and blue. The whales, on their leisurely way north, appear and start breaching, rolling and slapping the water. Their immensity is staggering and they seem more curious than wary of humans in a boat. Trying to capture how beautiful they are standing on a moving deck, hand holding a heavy camera while they keep moving, breaching takes a few seconds, was a feat. Beautiful being a completely inadequate word for these Humpback Whales.
