Jack Hogan, Archepelagoe (February theme: Aerial)
Invasive goats in the Fijian islands have been the cause of a massive decline in many of the archepelagoes native flora and fauna over the last decade, some such species under threat are the critically endangered Fijian Crested Iguana, Wedge-tailed Shearwater and other burrowing seabirds. The National Trust of Fiji and BirdLife International carried out and intensive operation to cull Goats and Rats in the Islands but the pests have obviously re-established themselves over the last few years and it is now time to re-assess the situation and take further action to protect the remaining endemic species under siege!!!
