Ngaire Hart, Appendages (Wildlife and Animal 2019)
The Cassowary has tall brown casque or helmet on its head in thick layers of keratin growing up to 7 inches tall. The crocodile has shallow teeth with new ones growing inside the old ones, ready to rip prey to pieces. Kudu's horns being long, spiral and spectacular making two and a half graceful twists are used for dominance. Whereas the Spoonbill uses its distinctive, large flat beak with nostrils on the base to catch food. These different appendages immediately identify each of these different animals.
