The native trees of Australia have long fascinated me. Their shapes and patterns; the twisted forms of their outstretched limbs; their innate strength as they hang onto wind-lashed coasts; the shelter they give to animals in our Alpine regions, their tortured shapes, their human quality…they seem almost alien, as they have turned themselves inside out to adapt to life in the harshest of environments. In black and white, that otherworldliness seems even more apparent...
