Virginia Williamson, After the fires and decimation comes hope of new life (LANDSCAPE 2022)

This series was photographed in colour on 15 Nov 21 during/between snowstorms. Images are untouched and accentuate the starkness of the landscape under its snow blanket, yet revealing the scars of bushfires. The 2003 bushfires decimated large areas of Victoria's Bogong High Plains. Many of the Snow Gums were killed but others are rejuvenating from dormant buds, however, the alpine growing season is so short that regrowth is slow and if another bushfire is experienced before these trees have a chance to obtain resources, they may not survive, changing this magnificent landscape for the poorer.
