Kris Lashbrook, A Rookie in the Game (Landscape 2019)

In such a big and competitive market that is landscape photography, it is pretty daunting that I work towards making a career out of the passion that I've craved for so long. Never-the-less, I continued to think of it and never pick it up, until Christmas 2016. Now, a university student at CSU Wagga studying photography, I've gone from point and shoot and only adjusting the shutter speed to continuing to developing my landscape photography. Living and from Wagga Wagga and the Riverina, it brings out a creative mindset when living in often flat planes and drought stricken areas. I work towards a mood in these photos, and an understanding of the narrative behind the compositions. The affects of different seasons, the affects of the drought, and what the snow can do for a couple in a stunning area. Not always bright and shiny with happy moods in all the photos, but I hope these photos create a feeling in the audience, something that they take a moment to think about. An absolutely fantastic hobby of mine, I continue to dive into the unknown with landscape photography. I don't know if I'll be able to make something from it, and I don't know what will happen. But the point is - I'll always appreciate what my camera did for me.
