High-Country New Zealand Photography Tour, 12th – 18th March 2027 | Departs Queenstown
Journey through Central Otago’s big-sky country and the mighty mountains of Aoraki/Mount Cook on a tour built around light, perspective and composition in some of New Zealand’s most evocative landscapes.
Our 7-day High-Country New Zealand Photography Tour begins with a Light & Composition Masterclass in the heart of the Maniototo.
Explore the unique landscapes of the Maniototo — an elevated inland region renowned for its plains, big skies and diverse light that inspired many of Grahame Sydney’s masterpieces.
From the Hawkdun Ranges and the iconic Wedderburn Railway Station to the historic Hayes Engineering Works, we’ll master the art of shooting different kinds of light, venturing further afield at sunset to the beautiful Poolburn area and the majestic St Bathans.
From there we experience some of New Zealand’s most iconic mountain landscapes.
Based in Twizel — the perfect base in the Mackenzie Country — you’ll photograph a diverse range of scenes including rugged mountains, lakes and rivers, venturing deep into Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park to capture alpine lakes, sweeping river vistas, and views of New Zealand’s highest peak.
