Video: Can you make a living with landscape photography in 2025?

Making a living from landscape photography is a dream for many shooters, but how viable is it?

We stumbled across this quite useful video from UK pro landscape shooter Stuart McGlennon that breaks down a number of different paths to making a living from landscape photography and how easy (or hard) they are, while also getting into the nitty gritty of how much money can be realistically earned.

And despite having a pretty UK-centric lens on it, there's some really interesting takeaways for budding landscape pros here.

Interestingly (and some would say depressingly) he reckons that becoming a content creator is probably the easiest path to being a successful landscape photographer in 2025.

In the past, the traditional pathway of working a 9-5pm job while running workshops and slowly building a client list before transitioning to being a full-time photographer is increasingly challenging to maintain on its own, he believes.

This isn't helped by the reality that the workshop season, i.e the times of year that are best to run workshops, is relatively small.

But, if a photographer can successfully combine both being a content creator alongside running workshops and a sprinkling of print sales, it's a good recipe for success - if their work is strong enough.

So, what do you think - is it possible to make a living from landscape photography in 2025? We'd love to know what you think.
