Watch: GoPro deflects ISIS sniper bullet, saves journalist's life
GoPro's are meant to be tough. Part of the company's selling point is manoeuvrability and durability, but did anyone ever think what might happen if you shot at it?
Journalist Ammar Alwaely found out in Mosul, Iraq after being shot at by a sniper. The Iraqi journalist was working in collaboration with the Sun reporter Owen Holdaway, when he was shot at in the war-torn province.
Amazingly, the bullet hit Alwaely's GoPro strapped to his chest, saving his life. Alwaely suffered only cuts from the GoPro's plastic and shrapnel.
The GoPro was a gift from Holdaway to Alwaely, who told the Sun that “if the bullet hadn't hit the camera or had been a few inches to the right, it would have hit his heart, and be fatal”.
You can see the bullet hit at 4 seconds into the video.
