Queensland photographer Trent Mitchell has won the $50,000 2015 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize with his image Boy In Boat Hervey Bay QLD.
The judges of this year’s Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize were Cheryl Newman, former Photography Director and contributing writer of the UK’s Telegraph Magazine, Alan Davies, Emeritus Curator of Photographs at the State Library of New South Wales, and Deborah Hutton, host of Event on Foxtel Arts.
Cheryl Newman said: "Judging the Moran photography prize was a real treat for the judges who were unanimous in naming Trent Mitchell's, quirky and beautifully observed moment, Boy in Boat, the winner."
Alan Davies said: "Selecting the best from a group of great photographs is never easy, but the judges all agreed the winner was extraordinary."
The Moran Art Prizes exhibition, which includes finalists from the 2015 Moran Contemporary Photography Prize and the 2015 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize is on now at Juniper Hall, 250 Oxford Street, Paddington.
