The Landscape Awards 2027 opens with $29,000 prize pool

Australian and New Zealand photographers can now enter the 2027 edition of The Landscape Awards, with the competition offering its biggest prize pool yet.

Hosted by us at Australian Photography, the Awards will distribute more than $29,000 in cash and prizes, including $8,000 in cash. That's around 32 per cent more than last year's $22,000-plus prize pool.

The competition is open to photographers across Australia and New Zealand, with images able to be captured anywhere in the world. It celebrates landscape photography in both natural and human-influenced environments, with people and animals welcome provided the landscape remains the main focus.

There are four categories: Landscape, Seascape, Urban and Aerial. Photographers can enter as many times as they like, across one or more categories.

The prize pool includes $1,500 cash and an OM-3 camera and two lenses valued at $5,498 for the Landscape winner, while the Seascape winner will receive $1,500 and a four-day Murray River Expedition Cruise Safari valued at $5,250.

The Aerial winner will take home $1,500 and an EIZO CG2700S photo editing monitor valued at $3,987, while the Urban winner receives $1,500 plus a WD Professional Pack valued at $1,500. The four category runners-up will each receive $500 and a $300 Print2Metal voucher.

The 2027 Awards are generously supported by OM System, EIZO, WD, Murray River Trails and Print2Metal.

As with previous editions, the competition places an emphasis on photographic rather than computer-generated imagery. Only minimal editing is permitted, and images must have been captured entirely with a camera, including digital, film or phone cameras. Images created or edited using generative AI are not eligible.

Early-bird entries are currently $25 and close on 6 December 2026. Standard entry is $33 from 7 December to 24 January, rising to $38 for last-minute entries from 25 January until entries close on 28 February 2027.

The finalists will be announced on 30 March, with the final results due on 17 May 2027. The winning and top images will be featured in the June-July 2027 edition of Australian Photography, on sale in May.

The competition will also continue its environmental giving, with $2 from every paid entry donated to The Wilderness Society.
