The biggest photo show in the Southern Hemisphere opens
in Melbourne later this week.
The 2012 Digital Show runs from Friday 25 May to
Sunday 27 May 2012 and will include more than 60 exhibitors including big names
Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Tamron, Epson, Pentax and more. New to exhibit
this year are Blonde Robot, Contour, GoPro and Aerobot.
The show
is restricted to members of the trade on Friday May 25 but will be open to the
public on Saturday and Sunday.
As well as offering
visitors a chance to see and touch the latest camera and tech gear from around
the world, the show will feature a program of free talks aimed at anyone wanting
to improve their photography.
On Friday, leading professional photographers Graham Monro, Abraham
Joffe, Nick Ghionis, James Madelin, Christian Fletcher and Vicki Bell will
present a day of free seminars for professional photographers in the Training
Camp theatre on the show floor from 11.00am until 4.00pm.
More presentations have been organised for Saturday and Sunday.
The three-day
event will also include the international premiere of Pixar Animation Studio’s
new short film ‘La Luna’. The film, which will open in front of Pixar’s new
feature film ‘Brave’ in cinemas across Australia in June, will be presented to
Australian audiences during A.J. Riebli’s keynote on Friday, May 25 and again
in encore to the public on Saturday, May 26, both at 5pm. With 15 years of
experience working for Pixar Animation Studios, Riebli will bring to life the
production process, technology and the heart of what makes great digital
storytelling.
All visitors to the exhibition who pre-register online
at www.thedigitalshow.com.au will receive free entry.
Otherwise, there is a $20 entry fee charged at the door.
Australian Photography magazine and www.australianphotography.com will
be at the show (stand 20) and we’ll be hosting an on-site photo
competition. Bring your camera and your creativity and call in and say hi. We'll see you there.
