Kristy Williams has won Australian Photography's inaugural The Challenge photo competition.

Around 200 people entered The Challenge, which asked entrants to take a photo of any subject or scene as long as it included a window somewhere in the image. Guest judge for our first The Challenge was Melbourne-based street and editorial photographer Jesse Marlow, who praised the puzzling nature of Williams' unusual bucolic scene.

"'A Creek in Frame,' by Kristy Williams is a beautiful moody black and white picture that asks more questions than it answers," said Marlow. "The dark moody feel of the scene enhances the mystery of why the windows have ended up where they are."

Kristy has won a Canon EOS M3 and 18-55mm IS STM lens courtesy of DigiDIRECT.

Runner up was presented to Derek Wong for his image 'Distracted'.

‘Distracted' by Derek Wong was a close runner up. It's another moody and mysterious photo. It's strong and simple composition is nicely balanced and the subtle colour palette compliments the overall feel of the image.

Derek has won a $250 DigiDIRECT voucher.
