The 20 finalists of Nikon's Surf Photographer of the Year

Nikon Australia has announced the 20 finalists of the Nikon Surf Photo and Video of the Year Awards.

Run in partnership with Surfing Australia, the competition was open to local surf photographers and videographers of all levels.

John Young, General Manager, Marketing, Nikon Australia said, “We are proud to continue our support in celebrating the breathtaking stories captured by our talented surf photographers and videographers for the eighth year running. This year we saw an increase in submissions from various surfing landscapes around the world. Congratulations to all our finalists."

A panel of 10 high-profile judges from within the surfing industry including Nikon Brand Ambassador and seven-time World Surfing Champion, Stephanie Gilmore were tasked with selecting the best of the best surfing photos and videos submissions based on the below criteria:

•          Innovation and creativity 
•          Dramatic affect and sensory impact 
•          Uniqueness
•          Composition of the panel 

The winners of the Nikon Surf Photo and Video of the Year awards will be announced over the coming months in a new television show format for 2020. The overall winner will receive a Nikon Z 6 kit while the winner of the Nikon Surf Photo of the Year Award will take home a Nikon Z 7. Each will come with the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S and FTZ adapter.
