Sony says it's newest compacts are the smallest cameras to feature a 30x optical zoom lens.

Sony has announced two new superzoom compact cameras, the Cyber-shot DSC-HX90V and DSC-WX500. Sony claims the new models are the world's smallest cameras with a 30x optical zoom lens. Both cameras use an 18.2-megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor with a 35mm-equivalent zoom range of 24-720mm. They also share optical image stabilisation, a 3-inch tilting 921,000-dot LCD, Full HD 1080/60p video, and built-in Wi-Fi with NFC.

The key difference between the two models is that the HX90V includes a pop-up OLED viewfinder (the same as the one found on the RX100 III) and built-in GPS.

The Cyber-shot HX90V and WX500 will be available in June for SRP $599 and SRP $479 respectively.
